Embroidery is easier than you think, you can sit and relax and do the embroidery only if you know the techniques. It is an art of creating a design with the needle of different color of threads. For the beginning embroidery may seem like a big deal but you should not stress out on that. Take it easy because nothing in life is impossible. There are certain tips and steps that you need to keep in your mind always and you are good to go.
The coolest thing about embroidery is that it does not require you to spend a lot of money and then make something out of it. If you want you can make it easier for you or complex for yourself. It totally depends on you how you look at it and what is your perspective regarding it.
Material Required:
There is just the basic embroidery material that you need to start off with which you will need every time you sit to start with the embroidery.
- Embroidery thread
You can buy any color of threads you want. Some people keep a collection of colors so they can have an access whenever they want to. Mostly two to three strands are used in the needle while stitching but it depends because sometimes which is rarely a person use six strands as well.
- Fabric
This is obvious that you need fabric to do embroidery on which can be of different material. But as a beginning I would recommend to start of with woven cotton or linen, so once you get your hands easily on embroidery then you can try on any kind of material you wish for.
Tools:
There are certain tools which are required when you are ready to start with the embroidery.
- Embroidery hoop
This is important for the beginners to get a hold of the cloth in the hoop. It tightens the specific area where you wish to do embroidery so that you can get a hold of the cloth easily. The hoop does not cost much at all, it can be found in any retail store as well. If you do not use it in the beginning then it can be pretty tough for you to start off with neat embroidery.
- Needles
There are specific needles available for embroidery which has a big eye so that the embroidery threads can pass by easily. Embroidery threads are a bit thicker than the normal threads.
Scissors:
You would need scissors for sure to cut off the thread when you are done.
- Design
Think of a design ahead of the time when you start your embroidery. You need to have an image of the embroidery design in your mind already so that you can continue it smoothly and you would know which direction you should move the needle while stitching. Some people trace the design on the piece of cloth which is attach on the embroidery hoop or some draw it with the pencil so that it can be a guidance for them in the beginning.
You can catch the designs from the internet, magazines, books or if you have one in your mind which you think you will be able to put it exactly the same way on the piece of cloth then go for it.
Three simple steps to start off with:
- Prepare the fabric
You need to first make sure that the fabric is inserted in the hoop properly. Choose the design you want to make on the piece and then insert it carefully into the loop so that it is tighten enough not slip out when you are doing the embroidery.
Make sure to remove the fabric once you finish the embroidery for the day because if you leave it like that it will leave marks on the fabric which won’t be attractive.
- Prepare the needles
To start off with just put two to three strands in the eye of needle. You can select whichever color you wish to start off with. Keep the length of the thread reasonable because you will be bringing it in and out of the cloth so it should be near easier for you to do embroidery on the fabric. And make sure you pay full attention while embroidery because even if there comes one knot, it will ruin the whole embroidery design.
- Begin Stitching
Stitch as however you want to from the bottom to the top or from the top making it a loop to another design. Make sure you do it neatly and pleasantly so that it does not give a rough look.
It is not necessarily important that you do perfect at the first time. For the beginners I would recommend that start of with a simple design and little embroidery designs which can get you comfortable with the techniques of embroidery.
You can also purchase the simple beginning embroidery kit available in the market for the beginners. It has everything you need to start with the embroidery. Everyone starts with a zero when they are learning something new and there are meant to be some mistakes in it, that’s how you learn to be good at it. So it is okay to mess in it in the beginning.
For more help you can read the embroidery books which can enhance your knowledge regarding the embroidery. Some people take embroidery as a hobby and to whom it interests the most they take it as their career in it such as in home economics or in designing. There are a lot of books which are written by famous writers to inspire the people who look for motivation in certain things which are taken so lightly and are given less importance nowadays.
